"Elkader residents will bring a second chapter of its colorful
Saturday, Sept. 22 when Main Street volunteers present "Stories from
Past." The project will feature live actors, portraying prominent
from Elkader's past. The program will be held between 1 and 5 p.m.
The live presentations will take place at eight different locations
with registration and tours at the Carter House Museum. Other sites
presentations will include the East Side Cemetery, Elkader Bed and
Elkader Public Library, Elkader Opera House, the Bob and Hila Garms
residence, the Keystone Bridge and dam site and the Keystone
building. Two carriages will be offering free rides from site to

- Elkader Opera House, 207 N. Main Street. Visitors will be greeted
Mangan and Jay Moser while Darlene Dittmer, Connie Gull, Alice Hunt
Orvis will present stories about the Opera House. Quartets from the
Chorus will provide entertainment on the stage.
- The Bob and Hila Garms (Price) House. Bob and Hila Garms will take
roles of Mr. and Mrs. Realto Price. Mary Harstad will be the
