Yes, i have been in contact with possibly your aunt? and also Rick Bergman who has answered you.
Yes, your grandfather George was a son of Jervis Muttart and Fannie Cowling as Rick says. Jervis was born in Ontario, exact place unknown. Family story says Montreal but that could be a generalization. He APPEARED to be the son of John Muttart and Eleanor Pardon in Wisconsin, but Fannie gives his mother's name as Bridget Mulrooney. She turns out to be an Irish servant in the Muttart household in Whitby, ON, in the 1851/52 census when the Muttart-Pardon group had moved to Wiscomsin. In 1871 she was in the PARDON household but then disappears. Who was Jervis' father? His death record gives Jervis Muttart - but there is no other record yet found to corroborate such a man, nor is the name found elsewhere in the family. My guess is that John was the father. If not him, then one of the other Muttart men.
So you are pretty safe in believing that Jervis is on the Muttart line going back through PEI to Alsace: John > Louis > Balthazar > Henri. See my info on ancestry.com trees. May not be totally up to date as I have stopped posting since they allow people to change others' info!
