Here is John CLAUSSEN living in Willow, which is also in Cherokee County. Birth year and
immigration date are consistent with the information you posted in your query.
1920 US Census, IA Cherokee Willow, ED32, Sheet 5A
CLAUSSEN, John, head, own mortgaged farm, 62, married, immigrated 1869/naturalized 1874,
GER GER GER, Farmer/General Farm
-Christine, wife, 56, married, immigrated [1881?]/naturalized 1887, GER GER GER
-John C., son, 32, single, IA, Feeder/Live Stock, self-employed
The son is of the right age to have been required to register for the draft in 1917/1918.
I found a draft card for a Claus John Peter CLAUSSEN in Cherokee county, born 1888, which
matches the age in the 1920 census above. The card was filled out in 1917, and the
address given is in Washta. The draft board information indicates that this is in Willow
Precinct, Cherokee County.
Sounds like a good match to me. I would want to track this Cherokee COunty CLAUSSEN
family forward and try to get the elder John's death record and obituary.
