I am looking for information about my great-grand parents,
Henry Theilen and Rena Hendricks. I have from my great-uncle Ted's obituary
that they came to Thornton, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa in 1915 from Illinois
and that over the next 25 years they lived in Swaledale, Hanlontown, and
Portland areas. I've also heard through family stories that they owned/farmed
quite a bit of land around Mason City, the county seat of Cerro Gordo,
and that when they died there was will that was contested by the children
and that lawsuit dragged out over several years. Could anyone help me track
this info down?
Henry came from Germany(though I don't know where in Germany) in about
1890. I think Rena did, too, but again I have no concrete info, just family
They had eleven children that I know of. Helene(married a Berding), Margaret(married
an Oeltjenbrun), Rose(married an Entner), Henry Albert Theilen, my grandfather(married
Julia McLaughlin), Richard, Bernard, Harry, Albert, Herman, and Wellington(married
Elda ?not sure of last name), and Theodore(Ted married to Vleta Scholl).
There was one uncle that the family refers to as Reinhard. Could that be
the German form of Richard?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
