I don't have anything to offer on the Shea's I guess. My G.G.Grandmother
was Elizabeth Ellen Shea. All I know about her, is that she was Canadian
Irish and she met& married Joseph Collier in the Chicago area. I know they
moved to Decorah, IA and had a family of 12 children. However, if you've
never come across the Collier name, there is probably no connection. I
don't know of any in Benton or Linn County, but, it was a large family!
I agree, they are very hard to track. Good luck in your research!

Yes, my Shea's go back to Chicago. James Edward Shea was born in Chicago
in 1865 and he had a sister Dora Agnes who was born there as well. I
can't seem to find them there, but it is on his death certificate and
her marriage register that they were born there.
Their father's name was Bartholomew Shea b. abt 1829-34 and their mother
was Ellen Calhoun born Jan 1834 in Limerick, Ireland.
The other names I am researching are Margaret Shea who married a Mc
Elroy, Dora Agnes married a EH Mc Elroy, Jerry Shea, Daniel B Shea,
Vernon Shea, Katie Shea, and Rebecca Shea.
I am sorry to say I have very little else on them, they are very hard to
find. They lived in Chicago for a few years, then moved to Benton County
and lived in Luzurne and then in about 1895 moved to Cedar Rapids.
