First of all, thank you for stepping up to the plate Rozella; it is much
appreciated. No, unfortunately I do not have an actual date of death for Henry
(or Mattie for that matter). I have found out that he was born in 1837 in
Indiana so he'd be about 63 or so in 1900. I didn't see him in the 1910 Census
anywhere (at 73) so chances are, he died there in Vinton between 1900 and 1910.
Do they have old newspaper obits indexed at the genealogical library by surname
It's such a busy time for everybody so if you can't get to it until after the
Holiday Rozella, it would certainly be understandable.
I am really sorry that you had such a bad experience with the Benton
County Genealogy Society. But please don't judge everyone in Benton County
or the Midwest by your bad experience. We're not all like that--and I'm
really hoping that what happened to you was a very rare thing. I have heard
that alot of people have very good luck with them.
