Daddy always said, "If you keep digging around in the family history, you will
find skeletons in the closet." Halloween is just around the corner and what
better time to think about being a part of the "IAGenWeb skeleton finding crew"
by adopting a wonderful Iowa county.
It takes the special love of our ancestry to help others in the discovery of
theirs, and that's the first qualification of being a county coordinator. The
counties available are Adams, Black Hawk, Chickasaw, Des Moines, Dickinson,
Greene, Guthrie, Harrison, Lee, Lyon, Montgomery, Pottawattamie, O'Brien,
Osceola, Scott. Please contact us at welcome_to_iagenweb(a)iagenweb.org with your
choice of counties, and we will see that you have the opportunity to come
"digging" with the best!

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mr. & Mrs. Ed DEMORY which was taken at
the James Studio in Iowa City, Iowa. The photograph appears to have been
taken about 1900 with the couple likely in their 40's or 40's at the time.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information
regarding this couple:
Edward N. DEMORY was b. in Jan 1852 in Iowa to parents George DEMORY (b.
1827 in Loudoun Co. VA) and Ellen BALLARD (b. 1830 in OH). Edward was one
of 7 children born to this couple including, Francis; Edward N.; Isabella;
Catherine; John H.; George W.; and Silas DEMORY all born between 1850 and
1862. Edward married Elizabeth "Lizzie" S. LUCAS (1862-1947) and together
they had 4 daughters, Cora F.; Lillian "Lillie" B.; Edna E.; and Geneva or
Genevive DEMORY all born between 1881 and 1901 or 1902, the last in Iowa
City, IA. Daughter Edna married P. C. PORTERFIELD (b. IA to parents Robert
PORTERFIELD and Ida PEW) on 30 Oct 1912 in Marion, IA.
Their youngest daughter Genevive DEMORY married Earl E. K. KRELL (b. Iowa
City, IA son of Charles KRELL and Anna LIGHTS) on 31 Oct 1919 in Marion, IA.
