I have a couple of different families who lived for a time in Audubon
They were both supposedly significant to the early community, so hopefully
someone will have info to help me.
The first was Howard Jay Green - there was a write up in the newspaper many
years ago about him (it was around 1909 I think). He owned a saw mill and
supposedly had a mansion on the waters edge. Does anyone know if the house
is still standing (or even barely standing?). Lived in Audubon County
The second is Orvis Chapin Keith - he was a merchant and the family lore is
that he and his family brought some of the big city culture to the
community. Lived in Oakfield around 1870. Again, would like to know if any
of their property (the store, the house) are still around.
