I'm looking for information on George PHELPS. According to his obituary,
he was born 25 Jul 1844 in Brown Co., OH and died 31 Dec 1907 in Leroy
Twp., Audubon Co., IA. He was buried in Arlington Heights
He was married twice with 2 daughters from his first marriage and 2 sons
and 3 daughters from his second. His second marriage was to a Mrs. Elinor
Gray. The first marriage (and the one I descend through) was named
Sarah. Her maiden name is presumed to be Willis, but that's not been proven.
George served in Co. F, 148th IL. Infantry during the Civil War. During
his funeral, members of the G.A.R. were present and served as his pallbearers.
I do know that he had a brother named Hiram who was also found in Audubon
Co. He was also buried in Arlington Heights.
Does anyone have any information on this family?
