I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the WYRICK Family. The
first is a photograph of Ed & Esther WYRICK which was taken at the Van Slyt
Studio in Centerville, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the
early 1900's with the couple likely in their 20's at the time. The second
photograph is one of Edress WYRICK. There is no studio or location, but she
is noted as Esther's daughter. There is a note that the photograph might
also be of Esther LYON, however based on the style of the mounting I believe
it is a 1900's photograph and Esther was born in the 1880's.
Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information
regarding this family:
Esther LYON WYRICK was b. 5 Nov 1881 in Plano, IA to parents Edwin LYON
(1850-1921) and Catherine Elizabeth BEAR (1858-1938). Esther was one of 12
children born to this couple including, Hattie Annis; Mary Alice LYON
KIRKLAND (1877-1960); Ira LYON (1880-1951); Esther LYON WYRICK (1881-1955);
Nellie LYON (1884-1968); Maude LYON HAINES (1886-1985); Charles Fredrick
LYON (1889-1987); Harry Edwin LYON (1892-1921); Gertrude May LYON
(1897-1897); Jaystin Franklin LYON (1898-1969); Albert Leeland LYON
(1903-1982); and Arthur G. or Jean LYON, all born between 1868 and 1905.
Esther married Eddie Ward WYRICK (b. 29 Jul 1883 in Douglas Township,
Appanoose, IA-1950- son of Jacob WYRICK and Martha Jane KERSEY or KENEY) on
24 or 25 Dec 1905 in Centerville, IA and they were the parents of one
daughter, Edress Mearlee or Mearle WYRICK CLIMIE b. 1910. Esther died 10
Mar 1955 in Michigan and is buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville,
IA along with most of her family. Eddie Ward WYRICK was b. 29 Jul 1883 in
Plano, IA and died 13 Jul 1950 in Centerville, IA and is buried in the
Oakland Cemetery there. Their daughter Edress WYRICK was b. 19 Nov 1910 in
Plano, IA and married Floyd B. CLIMIE (b. 4 Mar 1908 in Oklahoma-d. 1999).
The couple had two children. Edress died 28 Jul 1993 in Wisconsin.
Eddie Ward WYRICK was living in Plano, IA and employed as an Engineer at the
Scanlinawain Coal Co. when he registered for the draft in 1918.
