Good news and Bad news. But first a little background. My ggg grandfather, William H.
McCormack, was a member of Co. B, 2nd Iowa Cav. He died Dec. 17, 1864 near Little Harpeth,
Franklin Tenn. chasing Hood's retreating army. I too am searching for the book you
The good news is that the book does exist. My mother found a copy and made copies of a few
pages at a Public Library in the 1980's. The bad news is that the book can no longer
be found at that library.....its seems to have disappeared! I have made a query at another
website that deals with old books and was informed that the book is extremely rare. They
suggested that I check the Iowa Historical Society in Des Moines and that a copy is in the
University of Iowa Special Collections (E507.62d.P54) in Iowa City. I have not been able
to check these sources as I don't live in Iowa. I have the authors name spelled as
"Pierce", same rank (Sgt.) and same first name (Lyman).
If you have any luck, please let me know.
