I am looking for information on George Palmer, Civil War veteran, who died 27 June 1915.
His wife was Olive Marguerite Knapp and they had two children James and Laura. George was
born in Tioga Co. Pennsylvania but moved with his family to Cambridge, Henry Co., Illinois
where he and his brother later enlisted in Co. D. 112th Illinois Vol. Inf. After the war
he moved to Iowa and is noted to have died in Ottumwa. He was a farmer--probably a farm
laborer. I am searching for any information on him or his family. I would like to have an
obituary and know where he is buried. His brother Charles, with whom he served in the War,
also lived in Iowa for a time, but returned to Illinois and is buried at the Illinois
Soldiers and Sailors Home in Quincy.
I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who can do some lookups not only for me but
for our county gen. soc. which is compling info on all civil war vets from the conty.
Thanks very much.
