Hoisington, Henry, Pvt., Co. B, 39th Illinois Infantry, from
I have a question about the above.
My husbands great-grandfather was listed as serving 39th Infantry, Iowa
volunteers. But among the papers somewhere it was called the Illinois
Infantry. He resided in Iowa and enlisted at Adel Iowa. His name was
Hamilton Jefferson Tarr and he was killed in action at Allatoona, Ga., 5 Oct.
Is it possible the Iowa men were assigned to the Illinois Infantry?
