Subject: Re: [IA-CIVIL-WAR] Christopher Piatt
I checked the Iowa rosters and found Christopher Pyeatt listed with
22nd Iowa Infantry. Your assumption that he died during the war was,
Pyeatt, Christopher C. Age 19. Residence Albia, nativity Illinois.
July 26, 1862.
Mustered Aug. 26, 1862. Died of disease May 2, 1863, Milliken's Bend, La.
Buried in National Cemetery, Vicksburg, Miss. Section A, grave 91.
I found 3 Piatts and 3 Pyatts in the Iowa rosters also.
Source: "Roster and Records of Iowa Troops in the Rebellion, Vols. 1-6."
Civil War and Iowa: Greyhounds and Hawkeyes. CD-ROM. Creston, IA: O. J.
Could SKS find a Christopher Piatt, Pyatt or Pyeatt
b. ca 1844 served in the Civil War in Iowa. I have a feeling that he died
during the War.
