Thanks very much for your reply but from what others have told me
Samuel wasn't in the Civil war BUT it seems his father Ephraim was.
I received this information from a descendant of Samuel Low, so that
was great. Ephraim joined at the age of 61, that's amazing I think.
Anyway Happy New Year (it's new years eve here now in Australia) kindest
Yes, I have been following the threads on Mr. Low. I saw the name Lowe but
not Low and wasn't sure
which way your search was going to go.
Most glad you received the information from the Gentleman related to Mr.
And a most Happy New Year to you and yours and to all there 'down under'
and wishes for a properous New Year!

*Vini, Vidi, Vici... Helvetian!!!*
I am a descendant of Samuel and Melinda. I do not believe Samuel enlisted
in the army. At the outbreak of the War, he and Malinda had at least seven
children. That being said, however his father Ephraim Lowe enlisted at the
age of 61 in Co. K, 1st Missouri Cavalry, and died October 13, 1861 in Camp
Benton Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. He is buried in Jefferson Barracks
National Cemetery in St. Louis. You can fine Ephraim Lowe's pension records
Malinda's Brother also served in the war, in Co. D, 36th Iowa Infantry. He
died February 8, 1863 in St. Louis.
I'm looking for information on the above Samuel LOW married to a
Melinda (Marlina) Fox in 1842.
I would like to know if Samuel served in the civil war at all as I
would like some information on his daughter Sarah Jane Low perhaps from his
She (Sarah J. Lowe) married Rev. Thomas C. DARNELL 16 April 1865
Madison Co. Iowa.
The family were in IOWA in 1860/70/80. Samuel died 25th November in 1896
and is buried in Roberts Cemetery Stanzel, Adair Co. IA.
Any help with information on the family much appreciated. Kind regards
