I am requesting any information about Amos Pennington Ball from Story County, Iowa, who enlisted as a private in the Civil War on Oct. 27, 1864 at the age of 39. He was in Company H, 13th Infantry Regiment Iowa and was mustered out of the same Company H on June 20, 1865 at Davenport, Iowa. He was very ill and died soon after. Family sources say that he volunteered so his son would not have to go. The same sources say he was also a paymaster. I am wondering if you could verify this information and tell me where he fought. Amos Pennington Ball was my great, great. great, grandfather.
Thank you for any assistance you might be able to give me.
