I just wanted to take this opportunity to point you to an invaluable resource. For nearly four years I have been transcribing articles from various newspapers and books and posting them on my blog, Civil War Notebook (www.civilwarnotebook.blogspot.com ). I've currently 4,620 posts on the blog. Being a native Iowan, I have concentrated on Iowa, and since I now live in Tennessee, I tend to focus on Feb. through May of 1862, Fort Henry, Fort Donelson, and Shiloh, but that is by no means or stretch of the imagination all I focus on. I also have some posts from Tennessee, Illinois, Ohio & North Carolina Newspapers, as well as I am close to Chattanooga, Chickamauga, Franklin & Nashville, and live in Murfreesboro, so Stone's River National Battlefield is practically in my back yard (actually it's just across town).
On the Right hand side of the blog you will find a regimental index, and all of Iowa's Civil War regiments are listed there, when you click on the link it will take you to all of the posts for that regiment. there are a lot of posts, and growing every day, so be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Older Posts" to make sure you are finding everything on that particular regiment. There is also a Google search box.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your time,
Civil War Notebook
