Would like to correspond to anyone who had a descendant that served in Company B - 9th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Cavalry. Seeking correspondence that a descendant may have from his or her ancestor that served with this unit. I have never been able to find any photos that may exist of the unit or perhaps newspaper articles that were published that gave lists of wounded/deaths ect.
My 2 descendants are:
Cpt. John Calvin Flick from Taylor County, Iowa and his son Abraham Flick from Taylor County, Iowa.
Abraham Flick was killed Sept. 6, 1864 near Searcy, Arkansas and had a G.A.R. Post #437 in Blockton, Iowa named in his honor- Abe Flick Post #437 which was chartered July 22, 1887
Cpt. John Calvin Flick is buried in the Platteville Cemetery-Platteville, Taylor County, Iowa-I have his pension papers that have a very good description of the injury he sustained and also his description of his trip back to Platteville, Iowa after his discharge from the Army. I'd be happy to share any info that I have. Thanks for your time.
