This information is for our new subscribers who haven't taken the time
to read the instructions which were included in your "Welcome Message"
email that confirmed your subscription.
Help our volunteers to help you more efficiently, by following the
Instructions for posting.
PLEASE follow the subject line format: YEAR / County / SURNAME
This format was chosen so our volunteers can scan through their e-mail
and pick out the census years they are able to answer. Many of us
have over 100+ e-mails to sort through everyday and the CORRECT
subject line helps to speed up the process.
DON'T type 'Census Lookup' in the subject line. We know you want a
census lookup. That is the main function of this list.
Type your subject line: YEAR / County / SURNAME
DON'T tag your request onto someone else's by clicking "Reply".
Send a NEW email with your request and type the subject line
according to the instructions.
AND FINALLY, please include as much information as you can about the person
or family you're seeking when you send your request.
1. Census year you want researched
2. First name, middle name or initial, SURNAME
3. Age at time of census ~OR~ Year of birth
4. Birthplace (state or country)
5. Spouse's name, age and birthplace
6. Names and ages of any known children
7. Parent's names, ages & birthplace if looking for a child
8. County of Residence
It just takes longer to get a reply if our volunteers have to email you and
ask, "What census year do you want?" "Where was he born?"
"How old is he?" "Did he have a wife?"
What were the children's/parent's names?" etc..........
Thanks for your cooperation,
Lou - List Administrator
