I would like a check of the 1870 Wilton Junction, census, IA area for
James J. SHIELDS and his wife Mary Theresa, both born in 1834 in
Ireland. I think James was a farmer, so they could be located in either
Muscatine or Cedar counties. They would have had four children in 1870.
They were Mary (b. 1859), J. Henry (b 1864), Patrick Francis (b.
1866)-(all born in New York) and Susan (b. 1868) in Wilton Junction.
Another daughter, Kathryn Agnes was born in Wilton Junction in 1872 and
they moved to Minnesota when she was 6 weeks old.
I would like a check of any Iowa census from 1850 to 1920 for John M
Peyton, who apparently lived all his life in the Walker, Iowa area.
That would be either Linn or Buchanan Counties. He was born about 1846
and his parents were Phillip and Catherine Litteral Peyton. He was
wounded in the civil war and later married Eliza Betzer in 1866. By the
1870 census they would have had a daughter Alberta (Bertie) Peyton. By
1920, he was a widower living with his daughter Cora. Any help with
siblings and/or children would be very welcome.
