Hi - I'm needing help finding a marriage and a death in the Ewenny /
Colwinstone area.
Edward GRIFFITH (bp. 1793 Pyle & Kenfig - s/o Edward GRIFFITH and his
wife Catherine DAVID) - in 1815 he had an illegitimate child born in
Pyle & Kenfig.
The next record of him is not until Feb 1841 (administration of his
father's estate - died at Kenfig Hill). At that time Edward GRIFFITH was
a labourer in Ewenny.
I cannot find him in the 1841 census, but in the 1851 census, in
Colwinstone there was an Edward GRIFFITH a quarryman aged 60 and born in
Pyle - who I think was the right Edward. His wife Elizabeth GRIFFITH was
aged 60 and born in Ewenny.
Ten years later in the 1861 census there was no Edward in Colwinstone
but there was an Edward GRIFFITH a labourer aged 68 living in Ewenny but
recorded as born in Ewenny (not Pyle) and his wife (her name virtually
illegible) was aged 70 and b. Ewenny. - so this may have been my Edward.
Has anyone come across a marriage of Edward GRIFFITH and an Elizabeth -
probably in the 1820s - and the death of Edward GRIFFITH in
Ewenny/Colwinston in the 1860s (or 1850s or 1870s).
regards, Pamela
