Hi Tricia,
I used to attend St Mathias - and in my memory anyhow it did not have a
cemetery attached - certainly not a large one. There is an old church I
recall, up on a bank at the junction Fiddler's Elbow [ which doesn't look
like a Fiddler's Elbow any more] and the turn to Nelson. Could it have been
that church I wonder. It is all slightly iffy though I am afraid. You need
to have some concrete facts on which to build your tree Tricia ;-))
Cheers,
Jill

Subject: [GLA] Treharris Church
Hi Andy,
Thanks for telling me that it is St Mathias. I was not sure when I saw the
church, which of the villages I was in. I was coming from Trelewis and came
to a junction where the road doubled back on itself to continue down towards
Fiddlers Elbow. The church is then on the right hand side of the road and
has quite a large cemetery attached to it. I thought that I was probably in
Treharris but was not certain. I am hoping that I might find some of my
missing Lewis's there if the church was built before the mid 1800's.
Many thanks,
Tricia Heseltine
