Subject: [GLA] "What's in a name?"
Greetings everyone.Have been noticing the answers about
"NOBBY?"Yes,Anyone
called "CLARK"[a surname that is]is called
NOBBY.
As is anyone called HOLLAND is known as "DUTCH".
A "WHITE"is known as "CHALKIE".
I think that "BOBBY"became a Nick-Name for ROBERT,after that Famous
ROBERT,Sir ROBERT PEEL,the founder of the Modern Police Force,When People
Called their Policemen "BOBBIES?"[they were originally known as
"Peeler's"]That is of course,if anyone else knows of a better reason why
Robert is Known as BOBBY?
I once knew a "PETER PEPPER".I bet he was teased rotten when he was a kid?
Anybody know any more?
TTFN:Graham.
