Hi Martin
According to Johns' 1938 Newport Street Directory the resident of 79 Gaer
Park Drive was a Daniel Dart, of the Great Western Railway.

It seems entirely possible that this was the same Daniel Dart who married
Gertrude B Harvey in 1920
At least that's the only case I could find of Daniel Dart marrying someone
with initial G during the likely period
Registration district: Newport (Monmouthshire)
County: Monmouthshire
Year of registration: 1920
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Harvey
Volume no: 11A
Page no: 642
Daniel Dart died in 1966, aged 79, his wife having died in 1946, aged 62.
There is evidence to suggest that Daniel had married previously, his first
wife Annie having died in 1913.
In 1911 Daniel and Annie were living at 58 Jeddo Street with their children
Agnes, Daniel and Sarah
At the time Daniel was working as a 'loco fireman'
Do any of these names mean anything to you? Might your grandfather have
been lodging with Daniel and Gertrude, (who don't appear to have had any
children of their own)?
Incidentally, when responding to the Digest version of emails on this list,
it's usually a good idea to top and tail the response to get rid of all the
text that has nothing to do with your response!
Robert

The point I was making was that the lady in question described herself as
my Grandfather's Sister in
Law not that she was!
If it helps my Grandfather was Frederick William Salmon Wright born in
Northampton in 1879, move
to Cardiff in 1909 to take up a position at Whitchurch Mental Hospital.
As far as I can make out there is no evidence whatsoever of him having a
relation of that name but I
might be wrong.

Yes, she was the sister-in-law of someone who died in 1937! Seriously,
though, Martin, if you were to give us some information, such as the name of
you grandfather and any other immediate family members, then members of this
list could help you work out who this person was. We don't even know that
she lived in the Monmouthshire area herself, but with knowledge of your
grandfather's name we could help work out who his siblings were, from the
census, and then establish who G Dart was from the BMD.
