Same here, I can't add any anecdotes to place names but seems a very worthwhile
project.

Hello Huw
Good to see some enthusiasm on-list for the project.
I'd get stuck in myself but already have 2 long term projects on the go with
Genuki.

Hi Gareth, et al,
Been happily adding tags to this site most
of the weekend (was between jobs) and if they realise their project aims
it will be an excellent resource for anyone interested in local and
family history in Wales.
It requires 3 "volunteers" to correctly add a placename for it to turn
green on the map available to everyone (if 1 or 2 add the place name
then the tag remains grey).
But even if you don`t volunteer to add tags, it superimposes the 1900
Ordnance Survey Map over the 2013 Ordnance Survey Map so you can see
(very accurately) the changes and the build up of modern streets and
buildings to the correct scales.
You can also zoom right in to street level - already a great resource,
when complete it will no doubt be the envy of Historians everywhere:-)
It`s also very interesting to "wander" about outside our normal area of
interest, the Ogmore Valley, to find lot`s of interesting "locations"
and information, such as there was "another" Ogmore Valley marked on the
map between Bridgend and Ogmore -by-sea and how many Roman Ruins and
rifle ranges there were in the Bridgend area!!
Could explain why BCBC messed up the Communities First area`s a few
years ago:-)
Only issue appears to be that the site is down at the moment, but the
last time I was on there there were over 22,000 locations already tagged!

Huw
