Richard
have you considered that they may not have been "killed" but died of the
same disease (Cholera for instance) within a few days/weeks of each other.

Subject: [GLA] Death registrations - numbering system for double deaths?
I wonder if anyone who is familiar with the way death registrations
work
give me the benefit of their expertise on how more than one death is
registered. . . .
I have an ancestor who is an orphan at age 4 and so am looking for the
deaths of the parents. Because of the young age I have a feeling the
parents
may have been killed at the same time and was looking in the BMD index for
registrations "in pairs". So I have a four year window and an area of the
country to work in. I can find one entry where a man and a woman with the
same surname (a relatively uncommon name) are separated by only 4 pages,
i.e
same place, quarter and volume but pages 377 and 381. What do you think, I
this a good match?; could a double death registration result in
non-consecutive numbers like these?
Richard.
