Hi list, I need a super sleuth to help me find the marriage of my
g.grandparents please. It is the NEWMAN family that I am having trouble with.
Starting with what I know:
The birth cert of my grandmother Agnes Brown 1890, Railway St.Roath,
Cardiff, shows her parents John Henry Brown & Julia Brown formerly NEWMAN
1891 census shows Agnes with her family
John, head aged 29, born Cardiff
Julia,wife aged 30, born Llantrisant.
Thomas,son aged 7 born Cardiff
Florence, dau, aged 6 born Cardiff
William, son, aged 4 born Cardiff
Agnes dau aged 2 born Cardiff.
Marriage cert of John BROWN to Julia NOONAN 1882 in Cardiff shows
Julia aged 22, living at Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff. Father named as John
Noonan.
1881 census shows Julia NEWMAN at Bute Crescent, Mount Stuart Hotel, aged
20, born Bridgend. Working as a chambermaid.
Birth cert for Julia shows her surname as NEWNA in 1860. at Nolton St.
Oldcastle, Coity Lower in Bridgend Registration District. Father is named as
John NEWNA, mother is Mary Ann NEWNA formerly Evans. No Julia with surname
Newman or variations on the 1861, anywhere in Glamorgan. Free bmd shows her
birth index with surname NEWNA
1881 census for John NEWMAN & Mary Ann shows them at High St.Lodging House,
Llantrisant.
John NEWMAN head a ged 58 born Ireland
Mary Ann wife aged 56 born Monmouth
Sarah Ann dau aged 19 born Monmouth
William, son aged 11 born Llantrisant
I have the birth cert for Sarah Ann NEWMAN in 1861, which shows parents John
NEWMAN & Mary Ann NEWMAN formerly Evans.
The birth index for Sarah shows her born Dec qtr 1861 (d.ob.10/11/1861) as
Sarah NEYMAN. She is the only one on free bmd in Dec qtr with anything like
Newman surname. The image is unclear.
I am trying to find the marriage of John NEWMAN and all the variations to
Mary Ann Evans but with no luck so far.
Any suggestions will be most welcome
Many thanks
Ann
