Dear List:
I'm trying to find additional children for a family whose father is Thomas George
HUGHES and Catherine Maria MASON. They married in 1888 Cilgerran, PEM. I found them in
1891, 1901, and 1911 census records; and the last one stated they had had 10 children with
four dying.
The information for the children I can find for this family hhas come from census records
as well as actual baptism records. The places and times are as follows: Esther L. HUGHES
abt 1892; Mathry, PEM
Grace HUGHES abt 1895; Llangeler, CMN
Eleanor Mary HUGHES Bapt 6 Mar 1900; St. Issells, PEM
William James HUGHES Bapt 6 Apr 1902; St. Issells, PEM
Frederick J. HUGHES abt 1904; St. Issells, PEM
The mother of these children lived in Kilgerran, PEM before marriage; and I have found the
burial of a 7-week old child, Elizabeth Esther HUGHES, living at the Cardiff Arms,
Cilgerran (which, I believe, is the inn that her parents operated as innkeepers). And the
death of this child. 19 February 1889. is the year after their marriage year.
In the Kilgerran Parish on 3 December 1892, there is also a burial of a 12-day-old child
named Catherine HUGHES, whose abode is Manordeifi(?). I don't know what this is or
where.
The period of time between between 1895 and 1900 could allow for another child or two to
be born and be buried before the 1901 census. But that is the time when there seems to be
a county change.
Can any of you give suggestions of what I can do or where I can look (via the internet)
for possible parish records or some other locations that might shed some light on missing
children?
Thanks for your help.
