Hi,
Some time ago I asked for help re. the above person, she was only found on one census
(1901 ) with parents Patrick & Johanna Welsh/Walsh. I eventually sent for a copy of
her birth certificate which caused all kinds of confusion as her mother's former name
was recorded as Dinane not Shean/Sheehan as thought, Swansea Register Office checked it
wasn't an error. This new name "Dinane" threw all my research into question
I wasn't even sure I was following the right family line.
Swansea library were running a Family History surgery so off I went armed with all my
"stuff", a very nice young man checked over it all and declared the information
on the copy of the birth certificate to be an error...he was right!!
The family were catholic so I was sure a baptism for Margaret Walsh/Welsh existed, I
contacted St Joseph's Swansea for confirmation and had all but given hope of a reply
when 5 months after my request I finally get a reply confirming Margaret was baptised in
March 1888 and Patrick Welsh and Johanna Sheehan as parents.....yay!! Finally a
positive result.
I know lots of you are aware official documents have errors but I thought I'd add this
as there maybe some who are just starting out on their family history journey and may not
be aware that errors such as this exist, hope this info helps someone somewhere.
Best Wishes Yvonne :)
