If you are looking for your brothers original birth registration you should be able to
find it on Ancestry, get the volume and page number and then go to the GRO site and order
it ........... as you say you don’t know your brothers adopted details, but you should be
able to find his original registration.
Hope this helps

Thanks Gareth.
I am aware that I cannot contact the birth family and have been on the
contact register for a couple of years.
I just wanted to know when I would be able to order the GRO certificate
without a birthdate. I can do so for births in 1968, but I am still unable
to for the quarter of April to June 1969. I just wondered whether anyone
know whether the quarter would be released during this year, or whether I
would have to wait until next year. I probably didn't word it very well.
I don't know my brothers adopted name, but I do know the area he was
adopted into.
Thanks for your help.
Kind regards

Hello Nikki
I didn't think there is any problem with obtaining certificates. I thought
the problem was in contacting the birth family. If a person has been
adopted they would have changed their name accordingly.
The problem arises with people wanting to steal another's identity, by
using a legal document, a birth certificate to do so.
You might want to contact the local council involved with the adoption.
The following is a site for social workers regarding your situation.

Morning
I am after some advice.
I want to obtain a copy of a birth certificate of someone who is 50 this
year. I know that the GRO won't let you order certificates without the full
details until it is more than 50 years. Does anyone know how soon after the
50 years you can order?
I found out a couple of years ago that I have a younger brother who was
adopted as a baby. I know he was born in June 1969, where he was born and
the name my Mum gave him. Unfortunately my Mum was in ill health when I
found out, so didn't want to distress her more. She sadly passed away soon
after.
Thank you.
