Hey Liz,
Thanks for your reply. Ian G. also sent me a couple links that give some details about
the 1841 Census, so I better understand that now.
No, I haven’t seen the original image nor do I have access to it unless it is freely
available online somewhere that I’m unaware of. I do have a subscription to
but only U. S. access.
Thanks again,
Nancy

Hi Nancy
Ages of those 15 and over were rounded down to the nearest 5 years in the 1841 census, so
John jr could have been any age between 15 and 19.
Ages of those under 15 were supposed to be given accurately, but it's possible this
wasn't universally understood.
Additionally, have you seen the original image to check the information you were sent is
accurate? The 1841 census was written in copy pencil so isn't always easy to read. I
don't have access myself but it's on all the usual sites.
Regards
Liz

records, I wonder if somone is able to take a look and give me your take on it.

DAVIES are the following children: John 15 yo b ca 1827, William 10 yo b ca 1831, David 5
yo b ca 1836, Thomas 5 yo b ca 1836, Evan 3 yo b ca 1838 and Ann 6 mos old. ( I did see
that David and Thomas may have been twins).

Thomas on the 1851 Census is 18 yo. And this 18 yo Thomas in 1851 doesn’t appear on the
1841 Census with a birth year of ca 1833 as he does on the 1851 Census. So are there just
errors for Thomas on these two Census schedules and in fact these two are the same person,
or was there an error in the transcribed information that was sent to me, or is it
actually clear and I’m just having trouble seeing the forest for the trees?
