For those of you in the Cardiff area, you may be interested in the Friends
of Cathays Cemetery annual lecture, being held tomorrow (14th November) at
7pm.
Prof Paul Nicholson and Dr Steve Mills from Cardiff University will
presenting "Views from an Antique Land: Egypt and Palestine in First World
War Photographs" The talk draws on the results of a Heritage Lottery
funded project to collect and catalogue photographs of the area from private
collections. See

Often overshadowed by events on the Western Front, Egypt and Palestine
nevertheless played a significant role, particularly as a transit point for
troops en-route for the Dardanelles, and as an intelligence base for
campaigns against the Ottoman Empire.
It will be held in the Beverton Lecture Theatre in the Main College of
Cardiff University on Park Place. Admission is £5.
