It would appear that Court Colman is fairly close to Penyfai. The postcode of Court
Colman, now a hotel, is CF31 4NG and using that postcode on
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.old-2Dmaps.co.uk&...
shows a footpath from Court Colman to Penyfai village via Pwll-yr-hebog farm in 1899
The 1919 map 1:2500 shows a tree-lined avenue or carriage drive leading from Penyfai next
to the Church to Court Colman, and this appears also on the parish map for the parish of
Newcastle at
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.genuki.org.uk_bi...
where Newcastle Higher is area 93. Penyfai church was built as a chapel of ease for
Newcastle parish. "Penyfai was made a Chapel of ease to Newcastle in 1903, and
subsequently formed into its own parish in 1922" (GENUKI)
From modern maps it looks as if the carriage drive has been cut off near the Penyfai
end.

Hello List,
Probably an unanswerable question but, is there anyone who can shed some light on James
Collins who was killed in action in world war one? His name appears on the Pen-Y-Fai war
memorial situated at All Saints Church Pen y Fai . C.W.G.C. have too many of the same
name. There is no birth in Bridgend district as far as I can see. Anyone with any idea’s
?.
