Many children born in the Swansea Union were baptised at the parish church, St Mary's.
Might be worth asking someone to check the registers.

I'm not sure whether there would be any mention of Samuel or his
family in these records - the inmate registers don't start until
1858, but there might be references elsewhere. Probably best to
speak direct to the staff at Swansea Archives.
