I visited Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff this summer. The parish registers
are held at the record office in Cardiff, all as facsimile prints. I
have not seen registers kept like that before, so much easier to look at
than microfiche or film. Merthyr Tydfil library has the Bishops
Transcripts which I suppose are probably also at Cardiff. All the
entries I was looking for were in the registers but not in the bishops
transcripts so the two are quite different. Perhaps there are also
entries in the transcripts that are not in the registers.
If you are a member of the Glamorgan FHS they have transcripts of the
registers and can do look-ups free of charge.

not sure if they are still open. The Glamorgan Record Office do offer a
research service for which there is a charge. If you check the index of
marriages which took place in Merthyr Tydfil church produced by Glamorgan FHS and
the marriage isn't included, it isn't in the parish registers.
