Both made marks rather than signing. Witness William PLACE signed, witness
Ann PLACE ,made her mark.
There may have been a marriage of Eliza SLY and Robert PALMER at Westbury,
Wilts, in June quarter 1849.

In 1851 Robert PALMER 24 a Fireman b Wilts,Uffcott was at Box, Wilts with
Eliza age 23 b Somerset, Froome and son William, 1, b Wilts, Westbury.
In 1841 Elizabeth Sly of the same age was in Frome, daughter of a pauper.
There was a death of a Robert PALMER in 1857 in Swansea district. May not be
relevant.
in 1861 census an Eliza Palmer, 34, single, was a servant in Cheltenham, b
Taunton, Somerset. May not be the same person.
The only Eliza PALMER in Swansea in 1861 ( and 1871) was b abt 1802 in
Berkshire, married to John PALMER,Carpet weaver, at Church Street.
In 1861 census Richard DAVIES, 40, labourer, b Swansea was living in
Llangyfelach Street with his parents John 82 b Swansea and Elizabeth 71 b
Ireland.

Thank you Jeff - I have a looked at this marriage a couple of times,
but
try as I might, I cannot find the couple in any of the census well
certainly not with a Richard Junior living with them!
