Greetings to All,
This has been and exciting week for me thanks to the kindness of the
people who subscribe to this list. Earlier this week Curtis sent me
info about Nantgarw from his "Glamorgan Village Book" which was very
interesting. It gave the history about the potteries there which I knew
nothing about. I thought my Nantgarw ancestors were coal-miners so
didn't think they would have any connection to the pottery. Then Huw
and Pat came along with info about my PINNEL ancestors and there they
were listed as "pipemakers" on the 1851 census, so very likely they were
employed by William Henry Pardoe who took over the pottery in 1835 and
manufactured Rockingham pottery ware and clay tobacco pipes. Not only do
I have new names to add to my family tree, but I now have a bit of
insight into their lives.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help.
