Hi Geoff,
The address would be Shop Row (which I couldn't find for you last time I
searched), Abernant, Aberdare. If you look at a map of Aberdare, you cross
the bridge and follow Abernant Road to the top. The part that would be called
"Abernant" would be the section from above Aberdare General Hospital up to
the top of the hill where all the miners "Rows" were. The only chapels there
are Bethel Welsh Baptist Church and Bethesda Congregational. Bethesda is
now unused. I have not been able to find any parish records for Bethel
(which was my family's church), so I don't think they have been indexed, but
would love this information if anyone has it. There is another church half way
up the hill almost next to the school, but I don't know how old it is or whether it
is still in use.
Maybe Mary Jane and Reuben eloped! I will check my Aberdare parish
records to see if I can find any trace of baptisms and will get back to you.

In the continuing quest to find my g/grandmother Mary Jane BEYNON
born
"Glamorganshire" circa 1848 I have received a reply from the Vicar of St
Fagan's Trecynon..where she was married 1867 to my g/grandfather Reuben
COOK which confirmed the marriage but found no bapts for Beynons. He felt
that the wedding was unusual as both lived in another parish
Aberdare-Abernant.The address they gave was Shop Row Aberdare/Abernant
which address I have posted on the list earlier.
Now naive little 'ol me thought that his Church was Aberdare Parish...but
this Aberdare-Abernant Parish has me stumped...can anyone point me in the
right direction to this parish and maybe I can then get hold of the RIGHT
parish records 1848 or at least the right area for a census search.
Many thanks
