Hello Everyone,
This is my first posting although I must confess to having been "lurking"
for a while.
I am desperately trying to track down early details of my gt grandfather
JOHN JAMES CORRIGAN.
Apparently born in London around 1850, family folklore says that he was left
with an aunt in Cardiff, by his father who then went to the USA.
Confirmed facts are he was living in Birmingham in 1871.
He was living in Bath in 1875,
He was living in Bristol from 1875 to at least 1887.
He was living in Cardiff from 1890 to at least 1895.
By 1898 he was back in Bristol where he died in 1924.
The 1891 census lists him at 75 North Clive Street, Canton, Grange, Cardiff.
His trade was a Lithographic Printer, which I guess might explain his
movements.
Finally to my questions:
Does anyone have any information which would be of help re his time in
Cardiff from 1890 to at least 1895 ?
He was RC, so does anyone have any ideas which RC church might have been
local to North Clive Street in 1891 ?
Has the 1861 Cardiff surname been indexed by surname ?
If so where could I access a copy ?
If the story about the aunt is true, maybe the surname index might show his
whereabouts in 1861.
Thanks for reading this and any help in getting through this brick wall
would be very, very much appreciated.
Bye for now.
