Hi Don,
I have checked the 1669-70 hearth tax returns for Swansea and Gower and
only one George Bowen is listed. Unfortunately he appears only on a
supplementary list for 1670 and is shown as living in *Swansea Town and
Libertie*.
There are marriages of Gower Bowen's into the Lucas family and one of
these is recorded as Owen Bowen of Gurrey. There is another marriage in
1743 of a George Bowen to an Elizabeth Lucas in Nicholaston.
Cromwell's Survey of Gower and Kilvey might help and there is a copy of
this on microfilm at the Swansea University Library - this often enables
property to be identified. Failing this there is a good index of Gower
families at the West Glamorgan County Archives on Oystermouth Road
Swansea and this may be your best starting point - the staff there are
very helpful and may be able to give you some better pointers.

Howdy Bowen Cousins --
My wife (Pamela Bowen Conroy) has relatives linked to sailing from
Swansea, Wales in 1639. Family was that of Richard and Ann Bowen with
children. Oldest son, George Bowen, stayed in Wales and took over the
family home. We are planning a trip to Wales the end of March and seek
any available help in planning how to search out the old homestead.
Thanks.
