Ref Althea's message on anonymous flowers:-
I had a similar situation some years ago on 'my' Holmes grave at St Johns,
Newton.
I assume there was no message or clue with the flowers. What was the approximate date of
the placement of the flowers on the grave? If this is close to one of the
'anniversary' dates (eg, birth, death) of the deceased, this could be a
mini-clue.
I would suggest putting a short note on the grave to the effect 'whoever placed
flowers on this grave, please contact Althea g/g/grand-daughter' with contact details.
This note would need to be in a waterproof see-through (eg, polythene) envelope, and
secured to avoid being blown away.
Understandably, the churchyard/cemetry authorities may object to this, but nothing
ventured, nothing gained.
Alternatively, since you live quite close, could be to place your own floral tribute on
the grave, together with your contact details, and keep renewing it for the next year.
Good Luck
John Holmes
