However in early 1919 there were a number of entries where R was a middle
initial, so if he was really( for example) David Russell, or John Russell,
one of these might be him. You will need to find his marriage certificate to
find hid full name (if he gave it). .

There is a Blanch THOMAS marrying a PRATT in Cardiff in 1920
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Llanwonno/MountainAsh/ shows that the
area covered by Mountain Ash was partly (mainly) in Llanwonno parish ( also
called Llanwynno) which was in Pontypridd registration district, and partly
in Aberdare parish ( which was in Merthyr Tydfil registration district). I
think the river Cynon was the boundary.
A way forward, if Russell Thomas is deceased, is to search for his death
certificate which should give an exact birth date. This you could then use
to obtain the birth certificate.
I am blind-copying to someone who I suspect is not in the list at present
but might perhaps be able to help ( or might not).

Subject: [GLA] Mountain Ash and THOMAS
I am currently doing some research for my young nephews in the hopes
of
producing a small booklet for them to give them information about their
roots - which on their father's side I have found are from Mountain Ash.
Although I am familiar with researching, my previous efforts have mostly
been in Yorkshire and Gloucestershire but nothing in Wales.
What I know is that Russell Thomas was born around March 1919 in Mountain
Ash, the son of Thomas Thomas and Alice ?
Thomas died of TB when Russell was young and Alice remarried ? Pratt. At
some stage they moved to Bedfordshire. When Russell was a young man he
left
Mountain Ash and also moved to Bedfordshire.
If any of these names are familiar to anyone I would love to hear from
you,
but what I would also appreciate is some help as to whether when checking
census records, BMD records am I actually look for the place Mountain Ash?
I
did find something that indicated that I should be looking for a place
called Aberpennar, or even Aberdar and Llanwynne.
I have checked google but still can't really make sense of it.
Thank you - June
