Hello Carol
Cross Street ran between Frederick Street and Hills Terrace. In present day terms, I
estimate it would run through Boots' cosmetics department! My 1972 Kelly's
Directory of Cardiff (which pre-dates the major re-development of the City Centre) has the
Marchoiness of Bute on the corner of Frederick Street and Cross Street, which perhaps
explains the use of the two addresses.
Regards
David
The Marchioness of Bute was/is in Frederick Street , was/is the
Marquis of
Bute in Bute Street ? Was there a Cross Street near Frederick Street ? as
my great grandfather THOMAS JENKINS is listed at the Marchioness of Bute
Brewery ,Cross Street , and his mother JANE JENKINS is listed at the
Marchioness of Bute in Frederick Street in Slaters 1880 .
Thanks
