Many thanks and Happy New Year
We have Birth Certs for the Eldest and the Youngest on the 1881. They are
ALL in the Family Bible which came to us through ALFRED MUSGROVE (LEWIS)
(See the original)
Louisa MANLEY Grand Daur age 8 months born Llantrisaint Glam (Birth Cert
shows Mary Louisa b 19/8/1880 Father William Manley Mother Jane Manley
formerly LEWIS)
William MANLEY Son age 9 born Eglwysilan Glam (Birth Certh shows Born
9/11/1871n Rhydfelan Eglwysilan Father William Manley Mother Jane Manley
formerly LEWIS)
On her Birth Certificate, GEORGINA MUSGROVE, my Grandmother is shown as born
on 4th April 1891 Near Lewis Arms, Penrhiwfer, Llantrisaint RSD.
The above are Facts. Now come the questions.
To WHICH William Manley did Jane get married? ( We think from an IGI entry
she probably married in Ilminster Somerset in 1868. although we can NOT find
it on the GRO index))
Are there any Welsh MANLEY families who trace their ancestry back to
Devon/Somerset?
If anyone can help, we might start cracking that WALL
Many thanks for reading
Gina

Dear Gina
I have looked at the fiche copy of the 1881 enumerators' records. They
agree
with the details you obtained from the CD, the only extra detail
being
that,
in the household of William Manley, labourer, Louisa aged 8 mo was
originally entered as granddaur, but the grand was then crossed out.
If you would like photocopies I can send them snailmail - let me have an
address off-list- or scan them and send as attachments.
I cannot understand the family as it appears - unless there is just an
enormous coincidence, or Jane had two husbands a few doors apart of
similar
age, the same name, but different jobs.
The birth cert for Louisa - or one of the older children - may give more
details. Perhaps there were two Louisas of almost identical age. The GRO
indexes for Sep and Dec quarters 1880 should show that. If William (jr)
was
born 1971/72 in Eglwysilan district - maybe Senghennydd or
Abertridwr -then
that is the 1871 census to look through.
Best wishes
Jeff
