Melanie,
Prior to Pontypridd, I believe Llantrisant came under
Cardiff.
I have had endless problems tracking down birth certificates
as not all the records have been passed over on each
boundary change. Best way is to email each registrar and ask
them if they have what you want. All are very helpful and
happy to do look ups, but it did take me a while to obtain
the certificates of three children all born in Llantrisant
within a 5 year period of each other and the records were
found in 3 different places. It was not helped by endless
duplicate names but the registrars looked for the parents
names in the end and they found them over a period of a
couple of months.
There is someone on the list (can't immediately think of the
link) who has a web page that contains all the addresses,
emails and telephone numbers of the various registrars in
South Wales, I am sure another Lister will give you the
link.
Good Luck
Gillie.

I am looking for the birth entry for a Margaret Williams who
in the census states her birthplace as Llantrisant (possibly
Cymmer, Porth).
I was expecting to find entries for Pontypridd but none came
up. I noticed on the freebmd site that Pontypridd
registrations start from 1863.
Does anyone know what district Llantrisant or Cymmer would
have come under before this date.

I've been trying to trace there parents of my gggg grandmother
Elizabeth Hopkin (nee Davies )on and for about 15 years. I thought her
father may be the Rev William Davies (see Vol 5 issue 95 -- Rev
Thomas Davies / Rev Thomas Hopkin connection) . I found Williams' will
and he did have a daughter Elizabeth (eureka) but unfortunately she
was not my Elizabeth.
My gggg grandfather died in1800 and I believe that Elizabeth remarried
under her maiden name to one Evan Thomas in 1808 by license. I have no
idea what " by license " actually means but the FFHS site suggests
that there may personal details in "the register". Does anyone know
where this register is to be found or what details would be found
there and how do I gain access to this information?. The parish of her
birth would be good. Her age would be great. She was married in
Ystradyfowdwg but there are no baptism or burial records for her in
that parish or any of the surrounding parishes as far as I can see.
Thanks

Re: Incommunicado till 27th Feb
The move into my permanent new home in Brecon is now complete. I have set up
my computer equipment here and my ADSL broadband internet connection is
restored. I will now begin to update my website regularly, including the
'Weather in Wales' feature and the Retrospective webpages.
Many thanks to all who wished me well in the move.
Kind regards,

Dear Listers,
Incommunicado till 27th Feb
I shall be without internet access for the next few days because I am about
to move from my temporary accommodation in the Upper Swansea Valley into a
permanent new home in Brecon.
During the move, my website will remain on-line at its usual URL, but I will
not be able to update again it until 27th February, when my ISP has
transferred my ADSL broadband internet connection to the new address and I
have set up my computer equipment there. In particular, I will be unable to
update my Weather in Wales feature until 27th February. I have already
uploaded this week's Retrospective webpages.
Once settled in my new home, I will return to normal updating of my website.
Kind regards,
John

Dear list,
I know this subject has been closed - I wanted to point out a few factors.
If you do have a missing ancestor or relation that does not show up in
BMD ( searching the records yourself passed what our good friends at BMD
have completed) you could possibly look at the child migration?? A huge
task!! S Africa, Australia, Canada and I think New Zealand. In some
case's the child's name was changed.
Due to the 75 yr closure act in the UK, you can not find these people.
There are many free charities out there to help you. You have to search
each and ever country. Google!!! ( register with every country) The
biggest is the Salvo's ( Salvation Army). You can register, in the hope
that this person(s) has also registered. The Salvo's will do there best.
( they do a tremendous job)
This situation is a bit like a adopted child looking for their birth
parents.
From personal experience I do know that Dr B's in Cardiff sent a huge
amount of children.
I do hope I have not crossed the limits of the Glam list??
Regards
Jane ( W.Auss)

Hi Althea
>From her age in 1901 (27) it's very likely she was unmarried in 1891.
So it's not surprising I can't find her as Edith Molyneux. Do you know
her maiden name?
Best wishes,

Hi Listers: Can anyone who has access to the 1871
and 1891 census
find Henry Yorath who was born in 1864 son of
Llewellyn Yorath
and Margaret. In 1861 his parents were at Castle
Farm, St. Georges,
and I have not found them in 1871. Henry was still
unmarried in 1891 but in 1881 he was with his father
in Llanthetty, Brecon. Again, I have not found him.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Margaret Sanders from Wiltshire.
