Hi,
Are there any Maddys still living in the Mountain Ash, Aberdare, Ynysybwl area today who log on to the Glamorgan site. Would be interested to know if anyone is researching family history of the Maddy name. I have hundreds of Maddy names but cannot match them all up and if I could find some Maddys who have some information about their line it may be that I can marry them up with mine. There is also a line of Bristol Maddys if any of them are on the Glamorgan list.
Its a fascinating family name to follow.
With best wishes,
Sue in Suffolk.
I was thinking the same but <G> only thinking, I will see how many
born in 1857 <G> there are - how some ever Ancestry is going nuts
today <G> there are 25 born 1857 + or - 2 not so many with William as
a father So do you feel one of these?? <G>

This is one of my "Desk Denters" brick walls, can anyone help me here
(my forehead and desk are really suffering). :)
John L. Fullylove (Fullilove, Fullalove, Fullolove, Fulleylove, etc)
born abt 1846 in Dowlais Glamorgan.
I have found him in the 1861 Census and onward, (marriage, children,
death) thats not my problem. It's his birth and if I'm lucky his parents.
A extra clue is his brother.
Joseph Fullylove (Fullilove, Fullalove, Fullolove, Fulleylove, etc)
born abt 1842 in ??? .
My forehead and desk would welcome any help.
Thanks in advance

Hi
There was a good deal of correspondence in around Feb 2002 on this list. The
spelling FULLINLOVE should lead you through the archives to it. There was a
family in Cardiff in 1841 and 1851 censuses. They seemed to come from Higham
in Leicestershire.
I assume you have seen the two FULLILOVE births registered in Merthyr Tydfil
in the 1840s on FreeBMD - William in 1847 and Louisa in 1849. and have done
the obvious Full*love search on FreeBMD. This finds a George Joseph
FULLEYLOVE born 1842 in Foleshill, not far from Birmingham I think.
A William FULLILOVE died in Merthyr district in 1848 and a Louisa in 1850
Sometimes a family did not register every birth, especially if they were
strapped for cash at the time.

Good morning!
My 2 cents: If this was an American DC (and it sounds like it was), they might have put the county (Gwynedd) down as the place of birth. While US birthplaces were generally, as you say, listed as towns, I can see that someone here might use a Welsh county as a birthplace. In Wales, on the census, the birthplace is listed as county. Also, the town name may either not have been known or (gasp!) too hard to spell.
There would have been mines in both North and South Wales, and since the elder man died of lung problems, I would hazard he might have been a miner, who moved from Gwynedd to South Wales.
Did you find a naturalization record? Or a will? Or land deed in the US? Have you checked the Welsh census? How about an obit? Have you checked the DCs of the other children or wife? I know Pennsylvania has good records.
Do you live in PA? If not, maybe you can find a helpful volunteer on RAOGK to do a little hunting for you.
Good luck! Be sure to pass the genealogy bug on to your descendants!

Hi,
I don't know if this helps, but there is a Gwynedd, Wales:

"The name "Gwynedd" is also used for a preserved county, covering Anglesey
as well as the principal area."

I would take your informants information on how things would be done
with a bit of caution <G> official is one thing and family "knowledge"
is quite another. Gwynedd could well be right, I found your
grandfather information quickly enough (draft card anyway) so lets see
if I keep being so lucky <G> of course luck would be helped by knowing
when John W was born!
Ancestry seems to be touchy tonight I can't even go back and check the
draft card <grrrr>

Thanks Eileen,
I knew it was an outside chance that someone had done some research here.
But that's put the cat amongst the pigeons. I had John the son of Nathaniel.
I had Elizabeth as possibly one of two and Thomas was the favourite. You
have confirmed this. Many thanks for that.
I'll go off and check my cross-references now.
Many thanks for helping me speed up my processing. I was sitting around a
number of census sheets for the perpiphery of the family yesterday and today
and this is helping me make sense of some of them.

Hi Kerry,
Possibly not connected to your research, but worth mentioning.
I remember that there was a Graham Bartlett working for BT in Neath
telephone exchange in the late 1980's/early 1990's. I believe he may
have lived locally, i.e. in Neath and would probably have worked for BT
since the 1950's/1960's.

Hi
I've been tracing my James family history. Gwilym James , my gt gt
grandfather was the son of Thomas James and Mary Williams.( Thomas was the
son of Thomas James and Mary was the daughter of William. williams ) Gwilym
was born in Aberdare in 1854. Mary had a sister Elizabeth. Elizabeth married
a William Williams. Her husbands father was called William, On one census
for Plesant Row Aberdare, there were 4 William Williams living in one house.
Elizabeths father, her father in law , her husband and her son I was
wondering if I had a record for the number of William Williams living in the
same house
Any help would be appreciated

Hello,
The family were still living on the same road in Aberdare in the 1891 and
the 1901 Census, in 1891 the number was 415 Cardiff Road and in 1901 it was 420.
