Dear Listers:
Looking for further information on ELIZABETH ANN MACK b: 8 Nov 1892 in NEW TREDEGAR, BEDWELTY, MONMOUTHSHIRE, daughter of PETER MACK and ELIZABETH MACK nee GRIFFITHS.
ELIZABETH ANN married WILLIAM DAVIES June quarter 1914 in BRIGEND, GLAMORGAN.
In a letter dated 1950, ELIZABETH ANN DAVIES sister, CATHERINE "KITTY" ROLLINS, writes from Canada that ELIZABETH ANN stayed in Wales, married, but never had any children, is 58 years old at that time. ELIZABETH ANN (MACK) DAVIES father, PETER MACK, died in August 1900 due to injuries received in a coal mining accident at West Elliot's Pit. Her mother, ELIZABETH (GRIFFITHS) MACK died in September 1914 and her brother, EDWARD "TED" MACK died in August 1916 in France during WWI.
Hoping a DAVIES researcher might have ELIZABETH ANN (MACK) DAVIES in their records and would be willing to exchange information.
Sincerely,
Pam (Mack) Nixon

Jill,
Perhaps not sure if this will be helpful or not. I have a number of the
JONES families of Llangendeirne in my database. From my own research (and a
conclusion that Gill may have come found out) they are not all related. Both
my Daniel's have wrong matching dates. I have one Mary Ann (daur of Daniel
and my 1st cousin 3 times removed) was born in 1859. These are all part of
my Llangendeirne family. Not surprising that there are cross links between
the JONES & THOMAS family there (from Emma's reply) but all of my THOMAS
links are male JONES members marrying female THOMAS members in
Llangendeirne.
Any other names Gill may have may help me see if there is a possible link.
A number of the family members did move to Trimsaran (my Grandmother [LEWIS]
included) from the Llangendeirne area.
Heol Morlais I know well, having been brought up in the village but I do not
recall the family. That doesn't say much.
I have phoned my brother who still lives in the village to see if he or his
wife remembers the family. If I get any positive information I will get back
to the list.
Regards
Kerry

Hi Jill, which Mailing List website is this?
Although I can't help with the family research, I can help with the place
names as they are either close to where I live or work.
<<Bryncaerau, Trimsaran, Pembray.>>
Trimsaran & Pembrey are different villages, both of which are in the postal
town of Llanelli.
<<Drynllwyn Cottage, Mynyddygarreg, Llangendeirne.>>
The same applies to Llangydeyrne & Mynyddygarreg, they are villages, not
many miles from each other but distinct
<<Mynyddmaur hospital,Upper Trimble, Llanelly>>
It should read Mynydd Mawr Hospital, Upper Tumble, Llanelli. It is still
there and is a hospital for the elderly.

The Royal Commission of Ancient and Historic Monuments in Scotland have
updated their mapping system this week. This same system is used by the
Royal Commission of Ancient and Historic Monuments in Wales for their
COFLEIN website.
The maps seem a bit more reliable and you can now link direct to a display
of aerial photographs of an area (not the actual aerial photographs
themselves unfortunately). Also you can link to other mapping systems like
old-maps.co.uk, streetmap.co.uk, multimap.co.uk and getmapping.com

It looks to me as though Gillian means her grandfather was married in 1909
aged 19 and possibly married Mary Ann Jones aged 20. Apart from that, can
only suggest that she check all the censuses for the different areas.
Sorry, I have no other info.

Some info on Tumble can be found at:

I have two deaths that occured in Glyn Ivor House. Turberville Street/Road
.Porth. One in 1910 and the 2nd in 1922. Was Glyn Ivor House a hospital, or
just a house. The rest of the family were living in 27 Turberville Road, wondered
why place of residence when they died was different from where rest of the
family lived.Thankyou Alun.
Elizabeth Evans died 16 March 1862,age 33, Cwmpennar, no address was given on the death certificate.
Is it possible to locate the funeral arrangements, or where buried.
In 1861 she was living at Pen Rhiw Pennar, a Cefn Pennar Hamlet, with husband Henry Evans, at the time of her death she had a son William Evans age about 10 months, he was raised by his aunt and unckle William and Ann Evans.
Thank You.

Hello from Australia. William Richard TURPITT (a seaman) married Caroline DINHAM at St. Mary, Cardiff on 18 May 1858. There was 1 child, Edwin, born and died 1860.
William later married Ann or Nancy Stewart Ross and died in 1888. I have those census details.
Is anyone researching either TURPITT or DINHAM ? Thank you
Cheers, Bob in Melbourne
Uplands and Sketty are both districts of Swansea. Could you be talking about
Sketty Road, Uplands? Locally 'the Uplands' is used to describe the area.
West Glamorgan Archive Service holds copies of electoral rolls prepared
annually for Swansea up to 1974. These show electors listed by house number
within streets, the streets listed alphabetically within electoral wards. I
suspect the ward concerned would have been Ffynone ward, or possibly
Brynmill ward, in Swansea West constituency.
If you can describe to me, off-list, what the house and street was like, and
how you used to get there, I may be able to suggest which road or roads to
look at.

Hello Dewi. Many thanks for the advice on Birth Certificates.
I have now solved the Problem by Buying another one for 7 quid.
So am now awaiting with baited breath, for it to be delivered from Cardiff Registry Office.
A thought then crossed my mind, which was, I will need this also for Proof of who I am,when I get to the Magic age of 60 on October 2nd;which is when I will apply for my "Free Bus Pass!"
So all is not lost after all!
Many thanks to all.
Cheers Graham.

Dear Elaine,
If he married, his marriage certificate should name his father and his
father's occupation.
Incidentally, the parish registers would show his baptism, not his birth.
And if, like many Welsh people, he was baptised in a nonconformist chapel,
there will be no baptism record in the parish registers.
