Hi - I am researching ONION(S) -- an ancestor who married an Onion(s) who was
named in the will in 1906. Haven't found much yet. Only know that this
Onions was a niece of William Barber from Great Yarmouth, England. I don't
know if she lived in Wales or not. I know he didn't.
There is a search going on with someone in England who is doing a ONE NAME
SEARCH for ONIONS. It's in the GRD (Genealogical Research Directory).
good luck!

Hi Everyone
Has anyone easy access to the 1861 census for Cadoxton? I have found my
gggrandfather's eldest daughter, Ann Hopkin, living with her maternal
grandparents in the 1851 census. Ann was born in 1850 and her mother
died in the December 1850. I need to know if she was still living with
them in 1861 or whether she returned to her father David Hopkin.
Ann's maternal family were living in Alltwen in 1851 and were named:
Thomas John, aged 56, a Cooper, born PEM Newmate
Ann John, aged 54, born PEM Wiston
Isaaac John, aged 15, born PEM Wiston
Mary John, aged 10, born PEM Wiston
Benjamin John, aged 12, born PEM Wiston
Sarrah John, aged 7, born PEM Wiston
John John, aged 4, born GLA Cadoxton
Ann's grandparents could be dead by 1861 but she may have been living
with one of her Aunts or Uncles.
I spent yesterday at the PRO - found nothing much - came home and
continued on the 1851 fiche I acquired from GLAM H. S. and found her!!!
Many thanks
Anne
Hello to the list..
I'm interested in all instances of the name PIMBLE or PYMBLE and am
aware of JOHN PIMBLE and ZILLA THIRZA nee EVANS living at Evans Houses,
Norton Bridge in the 1890s. Does anyone else on the list have an
interest in the name? Would love to hear from you,
I have hundreds of marriage and thousands of PI(Y)MBLE family records?
and am happy to share information.
regards Gerald

Many thanks to those who found the details of William Gardner for me in
the
Cardiff area, it has been a great help and yes it is the William I'm
looking
for.
I am having trouble trying to prove that he is the William Gardner of
Timothy and Sarah Gardner from Edgworth.
He appears in the 1851 census aged 2 and 1861 census aged 12 of
Edgeworth, But not the 1871 census, i believe he left Edgeworth before
1871 and went to Cardiff, where William Gardner appears on the 1881
census aged 39 at 53 flora st.
This William is my great, great granfather, I believe that the reason he
is not on the 1891 census at 53 flora st is because he moved to the
Wedel, which is part of a cemetary. The house has now been pulled down,
and was pulled down by an uncle of mine.
I believe that William lied about his age so as to gain enployment at
the cemetary, he gain approx 7 years.
Is it possible for someone to look up the marriage details of William
Gardner
and Sarah ( Maiden name unknown ) from St Mellons.
This should give us the name of his father and of course Sarah's surname
and
her father, and hopefully prove that I am right about him lying.

Hi All,
I have pasted below a message which has been posted today on the Hampshire
and other Lists.
It seems to confirm that the problem is linked to some program code in the
BVR package, which is being ERRONEOUSLY interpreted as a virus by some
anti-virus software. I myself had no warnings of a virus from my Dr
Solomon's. But my system kept locking up completely while browsing the
BVR's.
Having disabled the virus software yesterday, I was able to use the BVR CD's
with no problems for two hours. However, today, my PC froze again on two
occasions, and this with Dr. Solomon's disabled!
So I don't know what's going on!

Hi Listers,
Following on the discussion of Pentre in Ystradyfodwg in the Rhondda Valley, I
thought you might be interested in the following tale.
Many years ago, when I was just starting out on my working life, one of the
duties was sending out postcards to remind customers they might want to stock
up on carbon paper, typewriter ribbons etc.,
We sent a card to a customer in Pentre in the Rhondda Valley. About 15 miles
from my place of work. Many months passed by and we had a post card returned
as 'address unknown'. The card had Pentre crossed out and replaced by Petrie
which added to my knowledge of geography. It had been returned from Petrie in
Australia.
Best wishes,
Maureen Jenkins

Hi Ken,
I suppose that by now you have found a Pentre in Flintshire near Ysceifiog?
Pentre means town so I expect there are quite a few dotted over Wales as a
whole.
The different placenames, which have a general meaning can only be pinpointed
when associated with another nearby placename, thereby making that particular
place unique.
Best wishes,
Maureen Jenkins

Maureen,
Thank you for your contribution to this discussion. You have us reaching
for the atlas, and things are becoming clearer. You are a great help, and
a copy of your msg will become part of our permanent file, as a companion
piece to the birth certificate of Tudor Afan EDWARDS. All illumination is
welcome, we have many dark corners in the world of our EDWARDS research. I
must confess that we are completely at a loss in this area of our work.

Hi Ed, Lorene and Curtis,
I am not sure I have the correct thread of this story, but I can illuminate
some points for you all.
U.S.D. means Urban Sanitary District
Penbre is probably Pentre in the parish of Ystradyfodwg. (Midway between
Porth and Treherbert in the Rhondda)
Pontypridd is about ten miles away, but was I believe, the nearest Postal
Address.
Best wishes,

Hi Richard,
We had an uncle named George O'Nyons. He was a member of the Salvation Army -
we thought he came from Yorkshire but, of course, Salvationists were often
