A huge "Zuckertüte" was also given to children on their first day at school.
I remember mine was so large I could hardly carry it and had a blue cone
made of some strong paper with all sorts of flowers painted on in and a
yellow cellophane lining wherein all the"goodies" rested. The cellophane
was gathered at the top and with a huge red bow tie! I tried to fix one
like that for my children's first school day, but it escaped the singular
importance given that day - they wanted one EVERY DAY thereafter..... that's
American kids for you! Ha!
