In a message dated 3/26/2004 1:01:11 PM US Mountain Standard Time,
I am looking for more information about George
and Theresa (Dietz) Beck who were married in Ploess,
Bohemia on or about October 28, 1855. George served
in the Civil war and both George and Theresa are
buried in the New Ulm Catholic cemetery. August Dietz
and his wife, Margaretha (Sellner) Dietz were present
at the wedding and I am wondering if August was a
brother of Theresa's
I normally post back to the list, so the general info, is available to
others. Thats what list are for.
You would have to go back to the Village birth records and locate the birth
for George, see who is parents were, and see if there are any siblings in the
same book. Some books may span 50+ years, so its easliy possible you will find
ALL the siblings, IF they stayed in the same village. If they didnt, look in
the other villages records. This would be for Birth, Death and Marraige prior
to about 1900.
There you use to be a lister on the Czech List, by the name of Mary H. And if
you put out a request to ask where they village records for Ploess are, she
can tell you what Archiv, the records are held at! There is a set of books she
has, (and they may be available for purchase elsewhere too) , the author,
Felix ( Gundacker ? ) of Vienna is a researcher also, and comes highly
recommended. He subscribes to the Czech List.
Then, you, or your researcher, would have to go there as the Archiv's dont
take outside written requests for info anymore! There is a list of cz
researchers on the Rweb Czech home page.
